This event proved highly successful for the club and for attending archers. The club itself benefited in a number of ways. This is our third year in a row of hosting an IV for the national league and this was perhaps our most well attended IV, with 196 attending archers from 14 different colleges. We’d like to thank all who attended. These record numbers also saw us bring in a record profit from the event and it greatly boosted our income for the year. We are planning on using this income to further develop the club by buying more equipment and upgrading some of our older equipment so we can run an even better event next year!
As well as financial success, we also had colossal success in the competition itself. Our archers performed amazingly and brought home some pins for their achievements. Our very own Charlie McGreevy also came first in his category and is now topping the national league, breaking our previous inhouse record! As well as this incredible feat, Charlie and Carla made their judging debut at our IV.
Our social media presence on the day was greatly elevated by our snapchat takeover of the Student Life account. This allowed us to reach the wider UL community and we saw a surge in membership requests the week after. We also created our own filter for the event. This is something which was relatively cheap but made for a lot of fun on the day and was used by most attending archers. And of course, what event would be complete without wolfie? We had a great tome showing him off and he caused some mischief as well. Thanks to everyone who engaged with our social media on the day
Speaking of first time archers, we couldn’t have held such a successful IV without the help of our members. Our first year members were outstanding and worked really hard to support the committee the day before and the day of the event. They also put up with my jokes for the year so that in itself deserves an honourable mention! In fairness, the club is in good hands for the next few years with the drive and motivation coming up
